What a sham this is. Given the chance, not a single Democrat submitted a question in writing to Estrada.

They have no grounds for their opposition here, other than "Bush nominated him." Absolutely ridiculous. Is it going to take 60 votes to get a judge through from now on, as opposed to the "simple majority" it's supposed to take?

If you're Sen. Leahy, Boxer, Lincoln, et al, which is more embarrassing: Being exposed as a liar and a fraud, or being out-smarted by the Bush White House?

Enh....same ol shit from the Democratic senators. The only reason that they are blocking his nomination is that the DC Court of Appeals is a stepping stone to the Supreme Court and the Democratics don't want the first Hispanic justice to be appointed by a Republican.

Note especially that both the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund are opposed to Estrada’s confirmation. So much for racism.

And when your own superviser doesn't support you, well, no right boss in their mind should hire you.

Yeah....the Hispanic Caucus is all Democratic. The Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education fund is a left-wing organizaton. Both are associated with....Democrats.

Nice try,

No, I think he successfully argued that it's not because "Democratics don't want the first Hispanic justice to be appointed by a Republican" but because they don't like appointing conservatives. Everything isn't racism on the part of the Democrats.

Nice try.

So what if he is? REpublican approved lots of Clinton's judges and there was no harm no foul, even if they were liberals and they met all of the other criteria. Just like Estrada does. So what's the holdup?

Remember, we are talking about the party that supports affirmative action; the most racist policy in America.

I don't feel like going to check, but I'm pretty sure that some of the seats Bush is filling were left empty from Clinton's administration because the Senate (then Republican controlled) wouldn't approve them/bring them to a vote.

The recent violence looks like an excuse to riot. To blame the Danish cartoon depicting Muhammed. Islam doesn't prohibit the pictures of Muhammed not to degrade him, but so he won't be idolized. The response from Iran is somewhat comedic.
