For years and years smarks have targeted Hulk Hogan's workrate, saying it's horrific and whatnot, personally I think Hulk does a pretty good job, not to mention that he can perform a match 100x times better than the critics that say he's horrible; the Meltzers, Kellers, and smarks of the world.
Anyways, if you people are so damn knowlegable about the subject, why don't you people become wrestlers yourselves, step into the ring, and show us those 5 star matchups smarks crave so much yourself? You guys are so knowlegable on the subject, I'd assume you'd know how to pull one off, but I doubt it because most all internet wrestling fans fall under the same breed Stars Wars fans fall in; overweight, mediocre at best in terms of looks, and most importantly of all, unathletic. Now I'm not saying all of you fall in this category, but probaly like 90% of you.
In conclusion, working a match is not an easy thing to do, which is why so few people are able to do it for a living. I think it's hightime that you guys get off your high horse and praise the Hogans, the Big Shows, the Warlords, and the Alberts of the world for their tremendous wrestling abilities.
I'm no workrate expert, obviously. I'm either entertained or I'm bored out of my mind. That's all there is to it. As far as Albert goes, I really don't hate the guy as much as most, just because he's not as bad as most would say. Hogan, well I really spend most of my time looking back to when I watched WWF Superstars with my brothers, so obviously workrate isn't an issue with me. If I'm bored, then I'm bored. I'm not really bored with Hogan, because well, considering that he's been slammed on the net for a long time, he's only trying to end his career on a more positive note, and I'm willing to give him that. Good luck with the other wieners....
Ringmistress
Hi, I'm the Ringmistress and I have a crush on the IWC's most hated man. Do strait jackets come in one size fits all?
I bump better than hogan
But your right alot of time we rip on these guys just because they arent up the level workrate wise as an angle or a benoit. Everyone has theyre limitations and with size comes more weight to carry which equals less speed. I have nothing bad to say about hogan during his latest wwe runs. I will say that this man has Phenomenal crowd psychology! No one can get the people into a match on emotion alone like hulk and maybe rocky. As far as the big show? I enjoy him for what he is: a 500pound wrecking machine capable of beating anyone when he feels like it. But Undertaker will always be my favorite. Why? Because whenever everyone starts to say oh well taker cant go! He's too old! he's slow! Doesnt sell! He comes bakc and puts on great and energenic performances. A 7 footer doing a Tope? Yup thats taker. Thats taker the man whos gonna need double hip replacements after he retires jumping over the top rope to the floor for YOU! For your enjoyment! Yet we still say oh, that Undertaker he sucks evil politician and bullshit like that. Am i wrong in saying that takers riegn with the title in 2002 was the longest he has ever had? A politician who doesnt want or need the belt to get over? Hell undertaker rules! Im a hulkamaniac brother! And yes i like the big show! - Raises arm in international sign of the ChokeSlam -

Look I'm sure Nick Leeson's knowledge of finanical futures markets is far superior to mine (and I'm studying finance among other things) but that doesn't mean I'm gonna laud praise upon the guy. And I'd damn sure complain if he was put in charge of my savings
Randy Moss is undoubtedly a talented footballer, but are Vikings fans wrong to criticise the guy when its plain (by his own admission) that he isn't giving 100% in every game?
The thing that gets a lot of fans is that a lot of the guys who are pushed to elevated positions are either not as talented as others on the roster, or appear to lower their workrate once they reach a certain level.
Edit: Almost forgot. While we're all debating how beautiful we are; 6ft, 11st and a bit, formerly athletic until my introduction to alcohol, and stunningly good looking. Oh and modest. Unshakeably modest. ;)

I once got $20.00 for helping "Mean" Mark Mest (see old issues of the PWI 500) take down a ring in the rain. That being said, "Mean" Mark Mest is one hell of a workhorse when it comes to ring-removal.
"next to of course god america i love you land of the pilgrims' and so forth oh say can you see by the dawn's early my country tis of centuries come and go and are no more what of it we should worry in every language even deafanddumb thy sons acclaim your glorious name by gorry by jingo by gee by gosh by gum why talk of beauty what could be more beaut- iful than these heroic happy dead who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter they did not stop to think they died instead then shall the voice of liberty be mute?"
Knowledgeable does not = ability to perform said task, otherwise we'd see Paul Heyman putting on ***** matches w/ Benoit and Chris Berman leading the NFL in rushing.
And if we're talking today's Hulk Hogan, that's a pretty shoddy argument. Hulk hobbles around the ring and can barely jump. While I couldn't get the crowd reaction that Hulk gets, or put on a good match (not being trained and all), but I bet I could at least move around the ring quicker than the Hulkster.
As for the Star Wars fan-boy argument, I'm a huge SW fan, and I'm 6'1", 175 lbs., average looks, and above average athletically. I enjoy long walks...nevermind, not the right place :)

Even if I can't wrestle, I still pay $30-$40 a month for pay per view events. I think that gives me *some* right to criticize less than stellar in ring performances.

For a few years I did freestyle wrestling. I've also spent several years studying the combat artform of wrestling. REAL wrestling, not sports entertainment. I'm not exactly brimming with muscles, so I used my knowledge of REAL wrestling to assist me during my time doing Freestyle. So there's at least ONE person in this board who fits your description. And I believe The Thrill, a man who works for an Indy fed, fits the bill as well. As do others. And also, one does not need to know how to make a dish of food in order to know how good/bad it tastes. Much the same can be said of a wrestling fan.

My name is Richard Morin, from Walkerton, now in Nepean. 6 feet, 145 pounds. I own several Star Wars books and even own most of the X-Wing Tradepaperbacks (Wedge owns). I review video games as a hobby (check out the sig for the links). And yes, I have wrestled, and if there was any gyms in the Ottawa area, I'd be there LIKE THAT. Don't generalize, please.

Umm, no most of us probably couldn't go in and work a ***** match. But, we're not wrestlers and Hogan is.
We are, however, fans and should be entitled to have an opinion. Most of our opinion is that Hogan is a terrible worker. We are fans and know what we like and don't like him when it comes to in-ring work.
No disrespect to Hogan. No doubt, he is one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) entertainers pro-wrestling has ever seen. But, he's not a good worker, IMO.
And Hogan will be the first to admit that he is not a good worker. Hogan is an entertainer, and he does it well. Plain and simple.
"I think it's hightime that you guys get off your high horse and praise the Hogans, the Big Shows, the Warlords, and the Alberts of the world for their tremendous wrestling abilities."
Thank you. I can wake up tomorrow with a smile on my face thinking about that hilarious quote. Big Show? Warlord? ALBERT?!?! BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!
Now, what was my point? Oh yeah... Don't do drugs!
You thought watching Thunder was bad? Raw is like watching Thunder in re-runs.
You know what, he's right. The only person who could judge the workrate of guys like the Warlord is my younger sister because she sure as shit throws a better punch

Just to try to help the wiener population prove it's under the 90% mark...
6'0", 195 lbs, big green eyes, prematurely greying hair, played baseball and basketball prior to injuries, then took up rowing and became captain of crew team in one year, Taekwondo, can bench 150% body weight. Good-looking enough that I always dated the "trophy" girlfriend until I was ready for a serious relationship (someone I could stand talking to) and got married. (ie I don't need a "reality show" to tell me I'm hot.)
By the way, I tried out the workout Lance Storm lists on his webpage. I didn't think it was doing much until the next time I maxed...nice results. I'd recommend putting it in your cycle.
Oh yeah...I like Star Wars, but it's The Lord of the Rings that rocks my world, baaaaaybeeeee!
5'10", about 15 pounds heavier than I should be, sang in the choir, started the chess club in high school, never came NEAR any sport, avid video game player and internet smart. And I have a hot girlfriend!

It sounds like lordazzington is saying you can’t be a ”critic” about anything or anyone unless you can do it better yourself. So the question I have for him is “how can you be critical of our being critical unless you are just as good at being critical as we are. And if you are just as good, that make you just as bad as us” …. um okay this is beginning to make no sense, which is exactly the point. It’s a lazy argument to counter a critic with the “well, you try it argument”. The money I pay to watch wrestling (in effect paying the wrestlers) allows me to be critical. But ya, being critical just for the hell of it is also lazy.

I've worked for independent companies since the late 90's. While I may not be able to perform the moves in the ring like those in there, I do realize what it takes to do it. Hulk WAS better (workrate-wise) than he let on in his original WWF tenure. But he never needed to do more than he did to pop the crowd and draw the money. That's much more important than so-called workrate. However, he can't do that anymore either...
I have a special friend. He's the baby Jesus and I love him and...and...he don't give me no s**t and he don't f**k around and he's just the f**king coolest guy and I wanna say I love the baby Jesus.I can't say enough.I love the baby Jesus and I think...he's the best thing and he's really great when he shares his love for everbody. You know what I mean?I can't even see a manger without thinkin' about him,eh?I just love the Jesus.I've only been into him for a couple of hours though, but I'm really into him. --Bruce McCulloch
I've never been president of the United States...so therefore by your logic I can't critize Bush when he does something wrong because I've never been in the office he currently holds.
It's is a wrestler's job to entertain me. It's entertaining for the very reason that I and the majority of Americans CAN'T go out there and do what they do every night. If I could go out and put on 4 star matches on my trampoline every night with my friends, I wouldn't watch RAW or Smackdown.
People don't make fun of Hogan so much because he's a "bad wrestler", it's because he's still wrestling like it's 1985. Hogan was a good wrestler to watch in his day, but once Bret and Shawn started setting the standard for in-ring work, Hogan refused to change and what you get is a guy who looks like a crazy old-man when he goes out there with his tests-of-strength, lock-ups, and Hulk-ups. That, and the guy is so old, he can barely take a back bump properly or walk without a limp. We're not making fun of Hogan in his prime, we're poking fun at 50 year old fart who can't let go and accept that wrestling has passed him by. If he adjusted to the times and at least TRIED to look like he was updating his moves, then okay, but he's out there doing the same damn thing he's done for 20 years.
EDIT: And another thing...not being able to call guys like Albert and Big Show BAD WRESTLERS is unfair to guys like Benoit, Angle, Edge, Austin and Rock who are GOOD wrestlers.
I think the majority of us here can bump better than Hogan. Hell, with some work we could all be carried to a better match too. But none of us here have the charisma of Hogan. This 50 year old coot can still pop a crowd like no other. That is something that cannot be learned.
So here's my question to you. If you had the charisma of Hogan would you be fine with that and be the most recognizable wrestler ever or would you step it up in the ring so you could have a good workrate?

We're not talking about Hogan's charisma...the entire debate is about his wrestling ability.
As far as his charisma, yes Hogan has remarkable charisma. That being said, you're equating today's reactions to his promo ability. Not so; it's nostalgia and nothing more. That's why after WM 18, he was given the title and it ruined buyrates in ratings. Getting a big pop from a crowd isn't the same as drawing money.
