That's what happened to ign.com after their big overhaul. They dumped the wrestling section, trimmed down the overbloated writing staff (which 411 already has), and things eventually got so bad they made you PAY for shit that you could get anywhere else on the net for free. Looks like Widro and Ashish are going for that same niche that IGN tried to create for itself (all mens stuff.) I'll give them 3 months before the fat trimming begins...
I'm also thinking about wrestleline.com (or was that what you were talking about, Venom?). They did a big redesign, then were quickly out of business.
411 is always slow to load on my work computer for some reason. That only started after their most recent re-design, about six months ago, I'm estimating.

Why do most people equate change with bad? It is no different at the office I work at. If you think that something can be improved by changing it, people instantly begin to scream the sky is falling.
Give it shot, you might like it. If not, than come back here and give it hell.

I think if most people have something that WORKS WELL, they'd prefer to leave it alone and let it do it's thing. I think a little improvement to anything is always welcome, but a complete over-haul is usually seen as a sign that somebody somewhere isnt happy with the results they're getting with whatever we're talking about's (sports team, website, work force, design, etc.) current state.

Nope...Ign.com, aka snowball.com or something. I was with it during it's beginings in 98 and 99 when it was just a movie review and science fiction site, then in 2000 they blew up to include cars, booze, wrestling, video games for all platforms, dating, movies, sci fi, comics, and technology. After that, they completely collapsed due to more spending and actually demanded that you pay to use their boards and view the fresh material posted. They still do to this day.
It's not so much fear of change, it's just the precedent set by other sites like wrestline and scoops as pointed out.
I think 411 is in pretty good shape, even without the "usual suspects". With TheSmarks officially joining the main site, it does fill up some holes (Sunday News, plus a couple of video reviwers).
The pre-order has been made. One of the biggest titles in recent memory will be arriving soon. To mark this, the next series of OSVG reviews will chronicle the Legend of Zelda series, from its very start.
Well, Ive just gone and had a look at the new look now and I must admit I'm not overly keen on the new look. They've retained the basic of the old look as far as set up, which probably isn't too bad a thing at all since it worked so well. But the colour scheme I certainly don't like. I think there are far too many colours and makes it seem more complex than it actually is, the text graphics are almost "kiddy geared".
Scott Keith's name is missing under the contacts list. He maybe under one of the other sections, I just looked under wrestling.
All that aside, if the content is as good as before they should do ok.
For those that have pop-up probs and on a PC, try this;
I am nevertheless certain that my abhorrence of the presentation will be more than made up for by the crisp and insightful writing from the veteran movie critics and journalists on the site.
Ick. That looks almost exactly like my roomate's blog, and that's NOT a good thing. Not at all.
It's about as well organized too.
Satire 2/24 (I promise to learn the new coding by next week) Buffy 7.16 gets a 7.65372 Andrew is funny, but I'm not sure that we needed "The Andrew Episode".
I think it looks more professional than the old site did, but that's IMHO. Although I'd like it if the wrestling and games section were at the top, rather than movies and music (mind you I'm biased about the games).

Could they have picked a redesign that would've taken LONGER to load?
Well, I guess it could've been a flash site...

No, those really were his words (* sob, sob *). btw, if this is the wrong forum, then which forum SHOULD I post this in? And don't say none, or else I'll give you more thumbs in the eye than Rick Flair did to SCSA (how many was that, JR??).
