Welcome back everyone to Week 8 (and the second edition) of the Box Office Dominance rankings, hosted by me because I'm bored and Canadian and this is all I have to do except ice fishing. Any-hoo, let's see how things line up THIS week.

For the period ending with the weekend of Feb 28 to Mar 2, 2003 [weekly box office placings used to calculate ranks taken from Box Office Mojo]
Films that got NO points (meaning, are OUT of wide release now) are noted in ITALICS.

WEEKEND RANKINGS
Which movie made the most money this weekend? Here's the Top 5 rankings!
Weekend Rank. Title. [Points Total] Year Rank (Point Change)
1. Cradle 2 The Grave [20] 32nd (+20)
2. Old School [38] 20th (+19)
3. Daredevil [58] 14th (+18)
4. How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days [74] 6th (+17)
5. Chicago [144] 1st (+16)

NOTES:
Chicago maintains top 5 finishes, keeps piling up points. LOTR drops a bit, but the early lead is still there. Catch Me is out of wide release and will drop a few spots soon. Schmidt is still strong. How To Lose A Guy will gain some more ground. Just Married will drop down soon, probably as far as 12th. Two Weeks Notice will drop, too. Jungle Book and Old School will move towards the middle of the pack next week.

COMING OUT NEXT WEEK:
Oscar host Steve Martin and Oscar nominee Queen Latifah in Bringing Down The House. Supposedly pretty funny. AND Bruce Willis in the war drama Tears Of The Sun. Looks to be a good weekend.

See you at the movies.

Jkyle.com says:

"Cradle 2 the Grave" will, however, be a box office hit, I imagine, and that will be demographically interesting because it demonstrates that a savvy producer like Silver now believes a white star is completely unnecessary in a mega-budget action picture. At one point, there were only white stars. Then they got to have black buddies. Then they got to have Asian buddies. Then "Rush Hour" proved that black and Asian buddies could haul in the mass audience. Long ago a movie like this used a black character for comic relief. Then an Asian character. Now the white character is the comic relief. May the circle be unbroken.
Roger Ebert on Cradle to the Grave.

I may actually go see that since it reportedly has such a dose of Tom Arnold to go along with Jet Li and DMX.
