Seriously, just read the highlights off the freaking teleprompter. Or else youll be workin next to Olberman.

You mean he'll be co-hosting Nachman with Olberman? But seriously, I agree 1000% that Stuart Scott is the most annoying person in the history of SportsCenter. How I miss the days when Tom Mees would just show the highlights and actually give the scores in a way that could be understood.
Ole Anderson booking is a weapon of self inflicted mass destruction.
Stu used to be my favorite anchor on the show by far, but I used to not have cable so I didn't see the show much. When I got cable he had turned into what he is today. I still like him, he's not as bad as some of the others, but he's a shell of his former self.
Best anchors they have goin? Rich Eisen, Dan Patrick, John Anderson, Linda Cohn.

Where is the Kenny Mayne love? Kenny Mayne is by far the best. I can't stop laughing when he does football highlights and talks about teams being penalized 15 yards for "cheating."

According to ESPN: The Uncensored History (entertaining book, by the way), when Scott was hired on as an anchor for the fledgling ESPN2, they pretty much gave him carte blance to do whatever he wanted, including playing up the "black thing" so e2 could be "hip".
Once he was shifted over to ESPN, though, officials wanted him to "not act so black". To his credit, he refused. But now, much like other anchors on that channel, he started "living his gimmick" and is now essentially a cartoon character.
What happened to you, ESPN? You used to be cool...

Seriously though, if that is how Stuart Scott wants to act then I have no problem with it. Being a wigger has been the in-thing for a long time now. Hopefully it will pass on as and another horrible fad will come along. Maybe wrestling smark?

Well, I haven't seen him on in ages and I watch usually two to three different Sportscenter's a day (yes I am a junkie). He indeed is awesome.
On Stuart Scott, he's still quite good when he wants to be, but some days I can see him inching closer and closer to the parody of him that was on SNL a while back.
Sure, some people don't understand Stuart but that's part of his appeal. Think about it: how many times, when you are with your friends recapping some event, do you not add some sort of hyperbole or flair to it? We all do. I like Stu because he talks about the highlights the way he would talk to his peeps. Linda Cohn(who is my second favorite), Kenny Mayne (who is my third favorite) and the rest of the crew. They all have their own flavor, as it were. That's what makes Sportscenter fun.

I've got no problem with Stu adding "hyperbole or flair". All of the anchors on SportsCenter do it. It's what makes the show so much better than whatever they're doing on Fox SportsNet. It's also why local sportscasters have adopted the "ESPN style".
My problem is that every time he's seen chumming it up with sports stars, everytime he shows up in a Luke video, everytime he lobs softballs at Michael Jordan in an "interview", everytime he's seen throwing his arm around Ray Lewis at that infamous Super Bowl, saying "Fuck those guys", directed at the media, he loses a little bit of that thing that reporters and anchors need if they're going to be taken seriously.
Credibility.

I can appreciate your point. While objectivity in reporting is sorely, and I mean sorely, lacking in sports coverage today, it's almost a balance thing. Many sportscasters are the eternal haters (like Mike Lupica...can't STAND him) so you are going to have some guys who just get along with everyone. It's just a matter of having diff'rent strokes to move the world.
Peace, D

I've been looking for this story all over the web, so I don't know if it's true or not. I was listening to Jim Rome a few days ago and he had a story about a high school band geek from Indiana.
