He may be Stephanie's friend, but Bret Hart was like a son to Vince, and we all know how that ended.

When it comes to screwing over his business, Vince has a line drawn in the sand with everybody, he just gives some people farther to walk to reach it.

Gerwitz is a very funny writer; his serious angles meander a little.

I love that seemingly everyone in this thread who wants to offer their informed opinion on this doesn't even know how to spell G-e-w-i-r-t-z.

(That goes for most of the people on this board, come to think of it.)

Paul Heyman isn't that good of a writer. Smackdown is starting to resemble ECW in a way. There are a few never ending feuds that just aren't advancing anywhere. Heyman is good at putting together good matches, throwing out ideas and at elavating new talent, but his storytelling is a little weak.

I'll go along with that, however the WWE's had too many writers who come from the other extreme, not to point the finger- those who can do angles ranging from good-to-great, yet can't book matches. Heyman's booking was a nice change, but you have to admit the product could be fresher (a blanket statement, but I don't care)

It's sorry to see him get 'moted, and to have yet another McMahon-HHHitler associate in charge of booking, but change is a must right now. Plus, Austin's back- the only guy who WOULDN'T stand for any of HHHitler's shit, IIRC who made sure that Levesque couldn't go to booking meetings (the shit snuck back in when Austin left AFAIK)- Although with less than 24 hours back in the company, Austin might have a *shock* positive role to play, regardless of all the shit he got for running home etc.

Only time will tell.

I'm actually surprised Heyman lasted this long. He's not a WWF/E guy, while Gewirtz is. Throw in Heyman's ego and the conflict before the Rumble, and its pretty easy to see which side upper management came down on.

I just don't get it. Heyman comes in, makes Smackdown the number 1 show ahead of Raw while Raw's ratings were dropping all of last year, yet Steph and Co. keep their jobs. I know the return of Austin has been a ratings hike, but we will see how long Austin can take the Steph regime. If he bolts again, the I really never see him coming back. Plus, if they hire Goldberg and depush Booker then there is no hope. Vince will keep bring back old faces to fued with and pay no talents more then he pays half the locker room for two matches. I just don't see Vince the genuis anymore, I see Vince the predictable.

A Fan- No Way Out lead to so many good things, why do I see Raw once again killing that.

Da Eagle has arrived

Maybe they'll make Heyman lead writer for Raw to see if he can turn that ship around. It's worth a shot, since Gerwitz is obviously going no-where fast.

I love how CRZ spelled it out for you and you STILL got it wrong.

And honestly, if Smackdown was as good as we all think it was than why hasn't it been drawing significantly higher ratings than RAW? Instead it's been in pretty much the same slumping pattern. I know there have been some great matches, but it doesn't seem that they've had the same effect on the general public as they have on us.

Besides, the three main storylines as of a few months ago were "Angle/Brock/Benoit", "Rock/Hogan" and "Torrie/Dawn/Al". One was handled extremely well, the other was not, though one needn't write much for Rock/Hogan to make it interesting.

On RAW the main storylines have been "HHH/Steiner", "Bischoff/Austin" and "Jericho/The World (Michaels/Test/Jeff especially). Again, one really poorly done angle (though HHH/Steiner has really not been featured at all lately), and two relatively well done ones. Though the booking for Austin/Bischoff has been suspect at times, it built up Austin's return quite well, and while Jericho's charisma is holding his angle together, the seperate pieces have been fairly well done.

I'm not saying that Gewirtz is a good writer, I'm just saying that I'm not so sure that Paul Heyman's run with Smackdown was the runaway freighttrain everybody has made it out to be.

After reading what the Torch and Meltz had to say I can't say I blame the WWE for giving Heyman a demotion. Heyman, for all of his good ideas, needs to learn to be a team player and work within the system.

Paul E. was overrated as a head writer, so the point is kinda moot, anyway.

You're a jackass for bringing Hitler into a conversation about wrestling.

Now as for this matter, alls I gots to say is this: am I the only person who thinks the betterness of smackdown has a lot more to do with the huge discrepancy in roster talent than simply the magical touch of the Master of the Bounced cheque, Paul Heyman? I mean, right from the beginning, I remember thinking "man...Raw's gonna suck." I actually said that aloud. And that was before Benoit and Eddy were were moved over. Finally they sent Jericho back over, but for a while there it was brutal.

I don't support the move, but if Heyman was such a booking genius ECW would still be in business today.

Is that because the matches are better or the stories are better?

There's a BIG difference.

It's both. If doing what Heyman did on Smackdown was so simple, why wasn't it being done before? People on Smackdown have been booked to their strengths which apparently is easier said then done in wrestling. Heyman managed to use Rock and Undertaker to build Brock and not hurt either Rock or Taker in the process.

Look at Benoit on RAW before he made the switch. He was floundering, jobbing in the opening match to The Dudley Boyz. Move him to Smackdown and he's become a solid upper card player again.

Look at pre-Heyman Smackdown Lesnar. He was bumping around for Matt and Jeff Hardy, he could barely beat Rob Van Dam, he wasn't really getting over. He was getting Goldberg chants. Now he's one of the biggest faces in the company.

Look at all the people that have advanced their careers on Smackdown in the past eight months or so. Lesnar, Benoit, Angle, Edge, Chavo Guerrero Jr, Matt Hardy, John Cena, Haas, Benjamin, the list goes on.

Name some people that are better off now then they were eight months ago on RAW.
