What was this film supposed to be? Action oriented? That's funny because there is no longevity to any of them. The action is over before it begins. And the music that is supposed to make action scenes work is made of one note boredom. Ben Affleck gives a wax museum performance, Michael Clarke Duncan is a villain without much screen time and Jennifer Garner and Colin Farrell look like they're auditioning rather than what a good take in a scene is supposed to represent. Mark Steven Johnson whose only other film as a director is 'Simon Birch' from 1998 should take early retirement although his two screenplays for 'Grumpy Old Men' and 'Grumpier Old Men' with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau were a hoot. I have never seen a film where the characters mumble as much as they do here rather than speak their lines clearly. There isn't one interesting character in the film but there are several tedious ones. The romance angle is a cheat and I was dumbfounded at just how superficial this entire film was. No imagination, no depth, no life and worst of all, no refund for your wasted time!
The phrase "starring Ben Affleck" wasn't enough to make this clear?
"Contrary to popular belief, there are no good wars, with the following exceptions: the American Revolution, World War II and the 'Star Wars' trilogy." -Bart Simpson

Well a one sentence zing on Affleck isn't exactly far from one sentence proclaiming HHH is holding everyone down.
I just don't see where all this Affleck hatred comes from, the guy did a servicable job in Daredevil, an excellent job in Chasing Amy, from what I've heard he was good for Will Hunting (*ducks*), and he showed in JSBSB he has a sense of humor about himself ("I wasn't even WITH a hooker today!").
Of course most of that was before he got engaged to a woman who needs 11 or so other people to help write a song about how real she is...

I thought that was Matt Damon. Either way, one of 'em called out Lou Merloni. (shrug)
And Affleck was decent-to-good in Dazed and Confused.

No it was Affleck. WEEI still uses the audio every so often as bumpers during some of its shows.

I liked DD, of course I liked the Star Wars prequels as well. I didn';t like the idea of Affleck as Murdock, but since he was a fan of the comic, he did his best not to fuck up it beyond repair. I thought he did a good job with nailing both the Murdock and Daredevil part. Gardner as Elektra was the weak link in the movie, but thats more of a compliment than a complaint. The movie was probably the second or third best comic book superhero movie next to Superman I and X-Men.
A Fan- From an Evening with Kevin Smith.
Ben: Dude, I'm going to be Daredevil with the red costume, the horns and the stick.
Kevin: Couldn't be an more embarrassing than Pearl Harbor.
I think Afflick is a total prick and I can't stand him... But I must say he was pretty good in Changing Lanes this year. I guess playing a prick lawyer fits him pretty well
