So, Speek Weeks is over and DEI dominated with 4 wins- with the other coming from RCR. Plus the pole to RCR. Only Front Row Joe in the Busch broke the cycle.

Now, on to Rockingham...

I think now we'll see the other cars come in. I think this is going to be Tony Stewart's race. He was strong Sunday and on a sharter track without the dominance of the DEI/RCR restrictor plate engines, we're going to see Stewart and Gordon start to shine - along with the other young guns - Busch and Newman and maybe Greg Biffle.

But the Rock's eaten a few up - who will it be this week. I say it's going to be: Jimmy Spenser. We're coming to the end of the line for Mr. Excitement.

I though this was going to be about Don Muraco.

Or that crappy Michael Bay movie. Worst Criterion DVD ever.

oh well.

Same here. Either that, or Blade Runner Warrior.

Hal: So, Dewey, I'm thinking our little Lego community needs a school.
Dewey: Don't need it. Everyone's born smart.
Hal: Aww, that's beautiful, son. It's a utopia.
Dewey: And anyone stupid will be ground up for food.
Hal: Oh. A cannibal utopia. Interesting.

After his quiet but impressive performance Sunday, this is Martin's race to lose, in my opinion. He's more than due.

I'll make my early week prediction and go out on a limb.

Don Muraco will not win Rockingham.

Not even if he uses a provisional to get into the field.

I cracked up when I read this. What would it be like if the Wrestlers - especially the old school guys like Magnificent Muraco - were drivers? I guess moves like Earnhardt's old blocking maneuver would have to have names. "The black hole" would be when a guy does an earnhardtesque spin of an opponent on the last lap on the way to Victory Lane. "The Orange Crush" would be Tony Stewart's finishing moves on reporters. And we would identify guys like Robert Pressley, Jeremy Mayfield, and John Andretti as Jobbers. When a mid-carder like Michael Waltrip wins, like last week, we would wonder how hard he was going to get pushed and whether "The Day" would hold him back. (Drivers would take on personas, and of course, Jeff Gordon would become "The Day", since he's #24). And his catchphrase would be "Saturday, Sunday, all Days belong to The Day"

AWArulz, you bring up a pretty funny comparison between wrestlers and Nascar drivers. But if you really think about it, the two have more in common than what many may consider.

Both of their biggest following, up until recently, was in the South.

Nascar drivers were considered a "good old boys" club and much could be said about the old school wrestlers.

Nascar drivers today as well as professional wrestlers today are experiencing mainstream media attention.

Both Nascar and WWE have experienced a huge boost in thier business in the last 4 years. (Though WWE's business seems to be waining at the time.)

The fans of each sport, tend to follow a particular driver/wrestler.

That's all the effort I'm going to put into this for now.

And, considering some of the 'heart warming' finishes of the past few years, some people believe both are rigged. Of course, we all know wrestling is real though.

People say its rigged, but hell, everyone knew going in to that Pepsi 400 that the DEI and RCR cars have always been the best with the restrictor plates. Earnhardt put a lot of time and effort into that part of the program. Earnhardt winning and Waltrip winning the last two he's won have come as no surprise. Weirdest thing is Park not getting into the mix, but that can be explained away with injuries and difference in style.

Well, I have my own opinion of Park.
In the race, on the Radio.

Earnhardt: "How cold is the beer?"
Waltrip: "What race is this?"
Park: "Head hurt. Must crash into other car."

But you're right. DE was into the restrictor plates races above all others. I liked it when Benny Parsons characterized him as being able to "see" the draft. That is the key to restrictor plate races, if you have the horsies.

Not this weekend through. Who's the best as getting his car right? Gordon, right? That's why he has the inside track this weekend. Stewart too. You know another one that seems to have that talent, back in Busch? Biffle. I think he's going to do very well this weekend.
