D. Lo Brown has been told by WWE that he will be let go next month. Brown had been making an estimated $350,000 a year. He had recently been given a small push in the "Down with the Brown" storyline, but the company apparently didn't like where it was going enough to decided to let him go.
Wow. When you gotta go you gotta go.no wonder he was squashed on monday night.
What'cha you know about death threats?--Cause I get alot!
Sounds like a good idea to me. I think he's a worthless slob who doesn't even care about his job enough to work out. The guy jiggles like Jell-O when he's slammed. The audience doesn't care about him one iota, either. I certainly don't think he's worth $350,000 per year. That's money that could be spent elsewhere on someone with some charisma. Adios, manboobs.
Okay, this is what it is, but how do they realistically end the angle? I don't want the usual, I don't want it just dropped and ignored like EVERY OTHER DAMN ANGLE in the past several years.
Let's put an end to the angle, so we know why we won't see him or have a lecture about being down with the brown anymore.
Boy, that's just great. Give the guy a racially charged, arguably offensive gimmick--on Martin Luther King Day, no less--do absolutely nothing with it, and then fire the guy. They better recognize that they're half begging for a Sonny Oono-type lawsuit.
Maybe D'Lo can join Konnan in the NWA version of the gimmick, which seems to be handled better anyway.
Dammit, D'Lo was the most underrated guy on either roster. This sucks. One less reason to watch RAW. (I'm down to Goldust and RVD interviews, how 'bout you?)

If its true, its another example that the writers and the contract negotiators are definately not on the same page. Tease a Raven push, release him. Tease a B2 push, release him. Now, after a few years wallowing in OVW and on Heat, tease a D-Lo push, and apparently release him. All I ask for is a little consistency. If your going to release a guy and you've buried him for over a year, why bother bringing him back for a few weeks. Of course, if this continues, I hope for a mini-Mark Henry push to occur soon.

I have no idea how D'Lo was making that kind of money. He didn't really do anything the past year except for this "Down with the Borwn". D'Lo was never same after the Droz accident, IMO. Plus he never really got in shape. The only claim to fame D'Lo had was being a part of the nation and that fued with Jeff Jarrett. While I thought he was talented, I thought he never quite lived up to his potential.

While I am sad to see D'Lo go, I look forward to him re-emerging with the Jarretts. They will use him right and give him a good push.
Good luck D'Lo.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one---big hitter, the Lama---long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

It makes good sense to me. You put the guy out there a few weeks and judge the crowd reaction. If they start to pop, then keep the guy and develop his character because he has the "it" factor. If they sit on their hands, then look at dropping him because the effort it would take to get him over may not be worth it.
$350,000?! When Rey Mysterio's salary is reportedly $75,000? I know Rey's actually raking in more than that when you figure in his cut of the masks and T-shirts and such, but still and all.

It also shows when the contracts were signed. Rey signed his this past year, when the company was in a downturn and there was no viable competition. I'm assuming D-Lo signed his contract in either '98 or '99 when it looked like he would be pushed as a star, business was strong, and there was always the fear of WCW signing him. Without the second viable option, most contracts will be along the lines of Rey's in the future rather than D-Lo's.

What's wrong with the move? They gave him one last shot at getting over. He didn't prove himself in that regard, and now he's on his way out. The WWE isn't obligated to keep anybody around. I've seen so many people complain about RAW the past year or two and yet they still follow wrestling. You can't make everybody happy, but when you run a business, guys like D'Lo aren't going to get you rich if they're not profitable.
They know he's got talent which is why they gave him one last chance with the fans, but if he's not over, they're not gonna be as likely to keep him. And I laugh at anyone who says they're wrong for releasing him.
It's obvious D-Lo was NEVER going to be given any real chance to move into the upper-card. The WWE brass will always look at him as the guy who broke Droz's neck and never give him any kind of serious push. It happened three years ago and D-Lo's been carrying the mark of death with him for it ever since, especially since Vince seemed to be very high on Droz. A lot of us said for a long time that if WWE was going to repeatedly keep punishing D-Lo for paralyzing Droz, then there was no sense in keeping him employed and it would just be letting good talent go to waste. It's looking like WWE is finally doing something about it.
Now let's hope D-Lo can go to TNA and get himself a REAL push! I demand a D-Lo/Ron Killings feud to see who can REALLY pull off the "black man held down" gimmick!
I'll keep watching, too. Because despite all the backstage BS, with all the confusion over storylines and angles illogic, the WWE still has talent I want to see perform, and questions I want answered in my own mind.
