The Rangers have picked up Alexei Kovalev, Janne Laukkanen, Dan LaCouture from the Penguins for Rico Fata, Joel Bouchard, Mikael Sameulsson, Richard Linter and, oh yeah, $4 million.
If the Blueshirts can't make the playoffs with this addition to the already talent-laden lineup they really will be a laughingstock...

Start laughing... the Rangers will be calling for tee times in April.

Aren't they already?

It's a good deal done too late - this team doesn't haved enough games left to get there - the deal actually looks better for next year - that said - Welcome Back Alex - we never should have traded you in the first place
5 Time 5 Time 5 Time 5 Time 5 Time Wiener of the Day Runner-up
It's a good thing they traded him back then. As a Ranger he would have never reached his potential, he would have never realized what he was capable of.
That said I am that now (and possibly next season) the Rangers are just too loaded with super talents. They have about three lines filled with first liners. And don't think I expect them to tear it up now. I expected that two-three years ago. These guys keep fucking up every time. It must be some sort of curse..(called bad management?)
But..on topic..YAY..AK27 is back in blue! :)
Steve Jackson! Games! Sluggy.com! Games! Phil Foglio! And err..Games!
I love the Rangers' solutions to problems: throw money at it. Team chemistry is the answer...just look at...The Canucks!

I can't wait for Todd Bertuzzi to be holding the puck behind the net as Naslund weaves in and out of seams, the other team scrambles as they can't catch up to Naslund or knock the puck off of Bertuzzi's stick. The crowd is going nuts as they anticipate the inevitable Canucks goal. Bertuzzi muscles a pass over to Naslund, who picks the 5 hole and scores to tie the game late in the third period. The crowd ERUPTS as they chant "Naslund, Naslund, Naslund."
Bertuzzi comes over to Naslund to congratulate Naslund, or so it seems. Bertuzzi decks Naslund with a clothesline, glares the other Canucks off and removes his Vancouver jersey. The crowd is in SHOCK. When Bertuzzi's actions begin to sink in, the ice is pelted with Labbat Blue, some nacho's and other junk. Bertuzzi skates off the rink, tired of all the attention that pretty boy Marcus Naslund has been getting while he struggled to find his game for years. The next day in the papers, he rips the city of Vancouver for some cheap heat and demands a trade...turning himself into a full fledged heel.
Bertuzzi is released and signs with a hockey team of your choice. Vancouver then announces that they have reacquired Donald Brashear.

Well, what we got was pretty much equally satisfying. Maybe more so.
I have some reservations about this trade; I hate to see more young players go (especially Rico "Hello Mudduh Hello" Fata) and since I don't really see them making the playoffs, I'm thinking they should have just waited and tried to sign him in the off-season.
But I have to admit that seeing Axl as the number one star, back in the old white-with-blue-and-red #27, was a *major* mark-out moment,
My New York Rangers beat the Vancouver Canucks at Madison Square Garden in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals to break their 54 year old curse and I was there to see it (Section 203, Row C, Seat 2)
