Alright, that episode of Raw sucked in a major way but, at least Booker T was set up for a title chase. First, we got the Goldust speech about how Booker T can be so much more than just half of a tag team chasing the tag titles. Then, the Goldust injury angle to set up Booker T going after HHH's goons ("Evolution", or whatever that dumb ass name was). So, Booker beats either Orton or Batista at No Way Out and sets his sights on HHH. Maybe that's the contingency plan if the Austin vs. HHH match doesn't work out or, maybe they are actually planning to elevate Booker T at WrestleMania as a primary plan. Either way, at least it looks like they are going in the direction of a Booker T title chase, whenever that match may be. He could soon be a SIX TIME, SIX TIME, SIX TIME, SIX TIME, SIX TIME, SIX TIME World Heavyweight Champion.

That's probably the only good thing I can get from this show was Black Gold breaking up. Once they lost the titles to Regal and Storm, I knew they were never getting pushed seriously as a unit. It's funny, because they got over with stupid skits and the "sports entertainment" crap that Vince always praises, but then got demoted for political/racist/personal reasons, I don't know which one.

I really don't think they'll put the title on Booker though, but you never know.

Yes, the evidence that they got depushed for political/racist/personal reasons is certainly astounding. Thank god it wasn't due to laying the groundwork for a Booker T singles push or anything like that. That would've been a rediculous notion.

Yes, I am getting dragged into this...

I cannot think of one notion in the history of professional wrestling that sees you take two singles wrestlers, put them into a tag team, get them extremely over, then break them up to do a singles push. Usually, you break them up when they get stale (the Hardyz, the Duds) or when one guy is much more talented than the other and wants to move on (HBK).

If you're arguing that the entire 8 months of Black Gold was to get Booker into the main-event, there are easier, more efficient ways to do that.

Evidence of what? Depush?

How's 5 months of constant jobbing in the tag title division (in their home state TWICE), a whopping 2 weeks with the tag titles despite being the most over team on RAW, then dropping them to Regal and Storm in their first defense when those two are getting zero heat. Hell, they didn't even get their rematch at the PPV! They had to wait till tonight!

I'm GLAD they broke up Black Gold because it's been a total burial since day one with them. This way, maybe they'll use either Goldust or Booker right for a change.

You're upset because you feel Booker's not getting into the main event because of racial reasons, but you take to calling the team "Black Gold?" So, calling them "Black Gold" isn't at all racially charged? Y'know, one of them looks the color he does because he paints gold shit on his face. The other one doesn't wear as much make-up.

This is so stupid. I said I don't know which reason it was, but it's been rumored all over the place that Booker isn't getting pushed because he's "too black." I don't know, I don't care. I want to see Booker in the main-event...and I'm pretty sure Black Gold was the name Goldust made up for them back in July.

If you're going to label me a racist, find something a little more offensive than "Black Gold" to hit me with.

So this is "getting in line for a main-event push" by your standards?

If you're looking for investigational journalism, hear's a shock, I don't have it. Of course, that's you've been setting me up for all along. I take the rumors from reliable stuff like Meltzer and the Torch, line it up with what I see on TV, and bingo, make a connection.

Possible Reasons for Depush:
-Goldust defected to WCW for a while in 2000.
-Goldust went on WCW television and bashed the WWF, and Vince MacMahon personally about his old character.
-Booker T was given several chances by Vince to join the WWF while in WCW.
-Booker has been talking off and on in interviews about retiring in a few years.
-The WWF has a history of being "racially insensitive." Akeem, Soul Jive Bro's Music video, Saba Simba, the current D'Lo Brown angle, El Matador, Roddy Piper's fued with Bad News Brown, John Cena's rapping, etc.

Actual Evidence:
-"Gee, Black Gold is the most over Tag Team on Raw right now."
-"Gee, Black Gold just jobbed in Houston, their hometown, to 3MW."
-"Gee, Black Gold just lost to Jericho/Christian in Texas again."
-"Gee, Black Gold just lost the tag titles after 2 weeks to a team with no heel heat."
-"Gee, Black Gold didn't even get their rematch at the Royal Rumble"

Can you seriously tell me this team hasn't been jobbed out and shunted down the card since August?

I could be wrong, but what do you expect in a secretly guarded buisness like Vince's? Do you think he's going to tell anyone what's what? If you want concrete answers I suggest you avoid wrestling forums. And the internet in general.

First of all, black gold is a fucking hilarious name and it should have been their official team name all along.

Secondly, it was retarded the way they cut the legs out from under them as soon as they got the straps. Just retarded. They fans were all over this team. Since that loss, the fans haven't been as all over the team. There has to be timing, and you have to give people a payoff in accordance with timing. If you wait too long to pull the trigger you lose the fans.

I think Booker T's blackness is a huge advantage, by the way. No one confuses Booker T for anyone else because he's so unique...and his blackness is key part of that uniqueness. I still don't see why they can't go back to promoting specific wrestlers to gain approval in specific communities. Booker T for black americans, Eddy for the hispanics, and uh...well the days of Putski are behind us but in the old territorial era there were specific characters for specific minority groups. I think if Jericho was black, and didn't look like 3 other guys on the roster with his white skin and long blond hair, he'd be better off today. You wonder why they don't use Edge, Christian, and Jericho better? Probably 'cause all them crackas look the same.

I would like some evidence that Booker T has ever been pushed more then they have to due to him being so over.

He went to attacking Austin in his debut to being Rock's personal job boy and ROCK JOBS TO EVERYONE but not Booker. He does nothing for months, gets beat up in a grocery store by Austin. Does nothing. TEAMS WITH TEST. Feuds with Edge over SHAMPOO (and loses). Gets put with Goldust as a joke but they somehow get themselves over. Just as Booker is starting to get over they saddle him in the nWo. Booker's punked out but the nWo dies and he never gets revenge. Feuds with the jobbing Big Show and gets a good match out of him. Tag Teams with Goldust for months on end, unable to take the gold. Jobs in his hometown to a fat unover samoan. Finally gets a quickie reign as tag champion.

Booker T is being groomed for the Main Event run at WrestleMania? I say a feud with Batista or Orton is more likely.

John Cena's rapping? Whoa, and all this time, I thought it was a joke and a nod towards Eminem, Vanilla Ice, Marky Mark, and Kid Rock. And Bubba Sparxx. Good thing I found out it's racially insensitive to be white in rap. Oh, wait, bashing a white person for rapping is a bias against white people.

You want racially insensitive? Hulk Hogan. They take an Irishman (Hogan is an Irish name) and make him a raving Christian fighting machine.

Oh, maybe I just put a spin on things, like you can do with most things.

I'm guessing Booker gets set up for a title chase after Wrestlemania...where he'll proceed to get squashed and sent back to Midcard Hell.

Booker was the only member of the Raw roster that hadn't been touched by the evil hand of Triple HGH. We all knew that wouldn't last.

I thought the initial "depush" of Booker came when he accidentally injured Austin on the PPV and then was part of the horrible WCW match with Bagwell. Two early instances of shooting yourself in the foot.

Deserved? no. But hey, we're talking about Vince here.

Here's a HHH conspiracy theory for ya...

Let's say they're still thinking of Austin-HHH for WM.

HHH feels his stable is actually going to get over, so he's setting up post-WrestleMania programs for himself. After all, he can't job to Austin if his stable is just starting up and it's "so over they can't job him." If HHH has a post-WM program with Booker T waiting in the wings and Austin has nothing in his immediate sights, Vince will be more likely to put HHH over for "longterm planning."

This is just me messing around, and I really pulled this out of my ass, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. Hogan played this game all the time because the "nWo was too over" for him to job to Sting.

That's not quite accurate...Jannetty was in line for a monster face push before getting himself kicked out. Go back and watch his "surprise" return and IC title win over Michaels on RAW in 1993.

But then, Michaels himself seems to think the Rockers broke up "fifteen years ago" instead of ten, so I can understand your confusion.

They broke up the New Age Outlaws at the height of their popularity to push them as singles. (Of course, because the Outlaws consisted of Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, it didn't really work out all that well, but they still tried it.)

And I highly doubt they're writing them off anyway. Evolution-X injured Goldust, obviously Booker's gonna avenge him starting next week, and I get the feeling (if the WWE can't sign Goldberg, creating a necessity for Rock-Austin rather than HHH-Austin), Booker's got himself all lined up for a World Title Match at Wrestlemania.

maybe i'm just being a dick, but, is "black gold" REALLY a "fucking hilarious" nickname? i feel like the use of hyperbole on this board is way out of hand. people are always "spitting coffee all over the keyboard," saying things are "the funniest thing i've read all year," etc.

gotta calm down, people. it's a little bit like the boy who cried wolf; if everything is "the funniest thing i have ever seen or heard in my life ever," when you want to say something is really funny, it'll lose its punch.
