well, i'm not sure how much this is actually a "spoiler," but why God why do they make us sit through this sh*t week after week? i was at the smackdown taping tonight, and there were about 4 separate backstage segments recounting the fascinating story of dawn marie at al wilson's funeral.
also, the highlights of the night were a velocity match featuring the defeat of shannon moore by "the jet," and the 30-second victory of rey mysterio and brock over a-train and the big show. don't bother setting your VCRs this thursday night, folks.
Considering how they're probably going to try and babyface themselves with the Owen Hart Tribute Show on RAW X on Tuesday by making it the "Greatest RAW Moment". Yeah, a tribute show for a guy you were in part responsible for his death, what a great moment. This is totally repulsive that two days later they're going to mock death AGAIN. Just really disgusting, IMO.
I don't really and that's sad. I'm more sad not mad at how a company with the greatest collection of talent is this unoriginal and this desperate.
Maybe they won't do the Owen thing on Tuesday and try to pass it off as a great moment but showing it again on Confidential came across as, "Look at us! Look at what we did!"
For those people that'll say, why are you still watching? There's a lot of great wrestlers there and well, I don't have a Nielsen box. I don't buy merchandise, pay for tickets or give them any of my money. Ask that question to the 6 million people that no longer watch wrestling.

I don't even know what else I'd watch. All I watch now is WWE, Enterprise, and... that's it. I think if I ever give up on WWE I'll probably drop cable and just keep an antenna hooked up to see about the weather forecast.
How do you have a funeral for a guy who's in a coma? I don't think I want to know. I could get some of you to go to RAW, since it hasn't been too bad (especially with Randy Orton), but... I wouldn't be shocked if you're not to quick to watch it. All I'll say is... I don't know, I just woke up to read this.
If one is finding the whole Dawn Marie/Wilsons thing too tough to take, try muting the sound and listening to an MP3 of the Benny Hill theme while the segment goes on.
I was also at the tapings and here were the main problems with the Al/Dawn crap.
The first problem is the way they opened the show recapping all the previous week's Al/Dawn skits. Then they cut the music and showed a picture of Al's face with the dates under it, just like they did for wrestlers that really die.
I counted 5 skits. They were very long and Dawn played it straight and serious. Not even Taz and Michael Cole can make jokes to cover up this crap. Dawn was whining and crying and it really killed the crowd. At the end of the night, Dawn hit Torrie with an ice bucket in the funeral home, but by that time most fans left the arena.
You could set your VCR, but you won't find more than 15 minutes worth watching.
okay, i woke up in a better, and soberer, mood than when i started the thread last night. the show really wasn't bad, it just didn't have a very "big-time televised show" feel to me. it just seemed like a bunch of matches randomly thrown together. stephanie's one appearance all night had her announcing a match and then walking out. the brock-rey-a train-big show match especially seemed like a pointless squash; brock f-5'ed albert 5 seconds into the match, and rey won with a non-finishing move. don't get me wrong, i enjoyed a lot of the matches, but in terms of storylines, the only one that really seemed to be advancing a story of any kind was the cena-b squared-los guerreros match, which ended with buchanan and cena having a falling out, and a subsequent beatdown of buchanan by cena and a mystery debuting wrestler. am i glad i went? yes. will i watch it on tv for any reason other than to see if i got on tv? probably not. :)

RingMistress I have to agree with you, I truly think if Raw had SD's talent, and you have Kurt Angle as your World Champion and you focus on this shity angle, people here would be ready to stone Brian WhatsHisName to death. But because it's the great Paul Heyman who is said to be in charge, lets look the other way and focus on the positives, "Hey Kurt is champ!"
Yeah what a champion, being the 3rd storyline on the totem poll. Who's feud isn't even being featured on WWE.com or the opening montage or doesn't even close out the show before the PPV. You guys are in wrestling nirvana with Kurt with the big gold, hey I love it too, but I don't like Kurt as a paper champion who can't even be focused on as the main player of his own show and takes a back seat to Banana Al Wilson, Yawn Marie Wilson and Borrie Wilson.
I'm looking forward to Raw tonight, where their World Champion does not need to be hidden (even if some of us might think he should.lol) and the women don't make me turn off the TV due to their annoyance... Also with RingMistress (on another thread) in thinking I'm going to skip this SD and I'll go one step further and say I will probable skip the RoyalRumble, STeiner/HHH and Torrie/Dawn are not the 2 feature presentations I want to spend my money on.

Why do you honestly expect any different?

Remember, this is the company that six months after Owen died had the Big Slug casket surfing adventure. This is also a company run by the same man who 24 hours after Brian Pillman died decided to test out his heel personna on his widow on national television. Thus, if its tasteless, you can generally count for Vincenk K. McMahon Jr. to be the 'genius' behind it.

So Dawn screwed Al to death and Torrie is going to have a match with her to "Avenge the death of her father". This is beyond crap, this is way beyond crap. It's just horrible.
January 4th 1999 - The day WCW injected itself with 10 gallons of Liquid Anthrax...AKA...The day Hogan "Defeated" Nash to win the WCW title in front of 40,000.
This is why God created the remote control. I'll flip to anything else to avoid this horrid angle. This is why they're cutting the intervals in the Rumble to 60 seconds. They have to give 20 minutes to Torrie and Dawn Marie. You never know, maybe Al will play the Lazarus card.
"By God, Taker raised Al from the dead!" -- JR on Sunday.
How could Zombie Al look any different than real Al? Real Al already has the sallow, blotchy complexion of a zombie. And he enunciates about as well.
I don't understand why they're staying with this. It's not getting a reaction from the live crowd, but it keeps eating up an increasingly large portion of the show. As people have said, it's not like they don't have enough talent to fill the time.
RAW, on the other hand, I could maybe understand.
"My brother saw the Undertaker walking through an airport." - Rex "Was he no-selling?" - Me
"...release the dogs, or the bees, or the dogs with bees in their mouths, and when they bark, they shoot bees at you?" -- Homer Simpson

But, at least after the funeral it'll be all over. Except for the reading of Al's will. And then of course the contesting of Al's will. Then, of course, Dawn Marie's carrying of the love child conceived on the night of Al's death. And of course, how could we ever forget the occassional visit by the spirit of Al in providing guidance to his family members (and Dean) from beyond the grave.
