I'm a huge Bear fan and I hate the Giants, but this guy is unbelievable. I know some guys have been putting him down for only having 1 TD, but anybody who watches the Giants knows that when they get into the red zone they rely on Tiki or Toomer. Gonzales may have better hands, Heap may be a better blocker and Sharpe might still be the best, but Shockey is already their peer.

This guy makes big catches for 1st downs and punishes the tacklers. He destroyed the Eagles defensive backfield today. Sure he's a showboat and hot dog, but he went to Miami, where they breed trash talking maniacs. If you saw today's game all doubts have evaporated. I'm convinced.

He's definitely a special athlete at the TE position, that was obvious when he played for the Miami Hurricanes. He reminds me of great receiving and running TEs like Keith Jackson, Jay Novacek, Brent Jones, and former Giant Mark Bavaro. But, as a former Free Safety, I can GUARANTEE you that his mouth will earn him a concussion or 2 when he has to make catches across the middle. I know Eagles Safety Brian Dawkins from his high school days here in South Carolina, I'll be shocked if Dawkins doesn't ring Shockey's bell sometime in the future as a receipt for Shockey showing him up after his TD in today's game.

Actually, I'll agree with both of you - Shockey really showed me something today, and probably convinced a lot of people who might not have seen him before. He really took advantage of the national stage. AND, it will also probably be very soon before somebody goes the extra mile to shut him up in a very painful way.

Shockey RULED yesterday. He brings a lot of energy to the Giants and has already made an impact in the NFL.

If the Giants ever make the Super Bowl in the next decade, it's pretty much a given that Shockey will be interviewed more than anyone there.

I don't care how great he is, or how many catches he has...

SOMEONE will shut him up sooner than later.

1st and 25 yesterday, and he makes about a 20-yard reception. He gets up, starts yapping, spikes the ball, taunts. Um, Rook...it's still 2nd and 5. You've accomplished nothing yet.

Caught that touchdown yesterday...and starts wagging his head and mouthing off to Dawkins as they're still on the ground. Um, Rook...it's still a 7-6 game.

Just play the game and shut your mouth.

As much as I've enjoyed watching him play the last couple weeks, he has helped them get to the playoffs and all, but he has to show me something in the playoffs before I give him the "Star" treatment. Good luck rook.

Titan Nation is ready...see you in Oakland.

See, the thing is that if anyone tries to baptize him, they'll end up with a nice little surprise: a scenic view through their earhole.

I love his arrogance, though... the team's taken on his swagger, and that's a Good Thing.

I heard that Dawkins is the guy that put Ike Hilliard on the shelf earlier in the season, and when Shockey and Dawkins were on the ground Shockey said "That's for Ike".

As far as the 1 and 25 play, I think his reaction had a lot to do with the fact that he took a hell of a shot so he had to get up and act like it didn't mean anything.

BTW, the guy can chuck the ball pretty good, too.

I recall that he already took a major shot against the Eagles, but he still held onto the ball. When you do that, you can yak all you want.

Whether he wags his tongue too much is not the issue. The guy is a horse. He backs up his talk with his play. I have seen all but 2 Giants games this year and he is the real deal. He is really getting stronger as the year goes on, too. He had the flu for a couple days earlier this week as well and didn't practice. He may eventually take a couple of extra shots but when he holds onto balls over the middle like he did on Saturday, keep it coming! He draws extra coverage so that Toomer will sometimes be single covered as well. The only problem is that Hilliard is out for the year, so the Giants don't have any other wide receiver threats. Don't think Daryl Jones is the answer.

Big Blue is getting Dixon back next week. He ain't Hilliard, but he IS a playmaker. Watch out, Niners. Watch out, Eagles.

You guys have to remember that Shockey comes from the University of Miami. I have to believe that is where the majority of the arrogance came from. That place breeds assholes. I just loved the days when they couldn't back it up(FSU beating them four years in a row). But the guy has skills and can back up the shit talking. I have to agree with you guys, though, on the whole thing about Shockey getting hit for opening his mouth too much and I see John Lynch on the Giants schedule next year. That's going to be fun to watch!

From today's Tuesday Morning Quarterback at ESPN.com, and I couldn't have said it better myself:

Memo to Jeremy Shockey: You're hot, but you are also dancing on every catch, throwing a fit on every zebra call, spiking the ball after short gains and when you snagged the touchdown against Philadelphia, you screamed boasts of prowess into the face of Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins, who has done a lot more at this level than you have. Oh ye mortals, trifle not with the football gods. The sort of behavior Shockey is exhibiting can only lead to woe.

Two words for you, Jeremy Shockey: Brian Bosworth.

Um, what's up with the Canes hating? Yea, the UM football team was arrogant... TEN YEARS ago. Have you seen Butch Davis, Ken Dorsey, Willis McGahee? Those guys have nothing but class. The Canes of now don't trash talk - they just beat you on the field.

Hey, as (someone else on SportsCenter, probably Sean Salisbury) said, there's one thing the Shockey/TO haters are forgetting to mention. They keep the big celebrations to the end zone. But more importantly, they go hard on every down. And besides, Shockey cares. His passion's rubbed off on the Giants. Wouldn't you want someone who plays every down like his job depends on it on your team?

I hated the Sharpie bit, but actually got a kick out of the pom-pom routine. The only problem with it was the 49ers were still LOSING the game at the time TO decided to dance, and the Giants were still LOSING (albeit 7-6) when Shockey started yapping.

Call me old school, old-fashioned, or just plain old, but I'd rather have a sideline full of guys who go out and play hard every down, act like they've done it before, shut their mouths and play the game.

Granted, I'm also probably the biggest Dolphin fan here in Wienerville, so I really don't have all that much to talk about this playoff season! :)

I have no idea how that Florida State team got blown out by Oklahoma. They looked lethal last night. They'll beat the Gators this year.
